10 Worst Movies of 2009

1. Old Dogs
Two great actors, John Travolta and Robin Williams are in the worst movie of 2009, Old Dogs directed by Walt Becker. Old Dogs has one of the most unoriginal, unrealistic, unfunny scripts ever written and what’s worse is that this movie actually made a ton of money.

2. G.I. Joe
Channing Tatum and Sienna Miller star in the second worst movie of the year and possibly one of the worst action movies of all time. The Good in the movie is the G. I. Joe organization living in underground headquarters in Egypt, and the evil in the movie is another secret organization, living in their headquarters underwater.

3.Transformers 2
In one of the biggest, longest blockbusters of the year, directed by Michael Bay starring Shia Labeouf and the very sweaty, Megan Fox (who of course always has perfect makeup throughout every scene in the movie) was one of the worst sequels of all time, Transformers 2.

4. Ghosts Of Girlfriend’s Past
Matthew Mcconaughey is the king of chick flicks (usually on this list), and he delivered one of my favourite lines of all time when he said to Jennifer Garner at the end of this movie “if we’re together I promise I will be there in the morning when you wake up” – What an accomplishment!

5. The Ugly Truth
Thank the lord, Katherine Heigl didn’t leave Grey’s Anatomy because she isn’t doing any decent work when it comes to film. The Ugly Truth may not be the worst movie of the year, but it is certainly the most sexist and misogynistic movie of the year.

6. 17 Again
Take a hot, young famous heartthrob like Zac Efron, an overplayed, ridiculous story involving time travel and you have 17 Again. No attack on Efron, but 17 Again was 13 going on 30/Back To The Future/Peggy Sue Got Married all mixed into one with a horrible script.

7. Couples Retreat
Funny guys Vince Vaughn, Jon Favreau, and Jason Bateman give performances in one of the worst movies of the year, Couples Retreat. Their characters are all married to beautiful twenty something’s like Kristen Bell or Malin Akerman – how realistic.

8. My Sister’s Keeper
One of my favourite books of all time was destroyed by the making of this film, directed by Nick Cassevettes (The Notebook), and starring Abigail Breslin as the girl who wants to take the rights to her own body.

9. Funny People
One of my favourite writer/directors Judd Apatow took a stab at making a dramatic film…and failed. Adam Sandler gives a performance as an aged comedian, douchebag who the audience can’t sympathize for and Seth Rogen is the young, naïve comedian that Sandler takes under his wing.

10. The Invention Of Lying
The problem with a stellar cast is that the film usually doesn’t turn out that funny. I was in fact extremely bored throughout The Invention Of Lying and that is unfortunate because I am a big fan of Ricky Gervais, who stars, co-writes, and co-directs the film.
